Our next event in the “Audio Institute Presents” series was a concert featuring Haitian band Ti-Coca and his excellent band Wanga-Nègès. The band has been playing their acoustic twoubadou (‘troubadour’) music since 1976, but are jubilant, loose-limbed, and feisty! The concert was being promoted and produced by the Audio Institute students, including managing publicity and ticket sales, along with all engineering of the sound throughout the concert, and finally the post-production breakdown. The concert took place at Le Chandelier restaurant in downtown Jacmel, and over 120 people attended. The concert was a celebration of the end of the first trimester, and Hotel de la Place was the community partner in the event, offering free lodging for the visiting band.
